Introduction:

 This product is legume licorice Glycyrrhiza uralensis Fisch., Glycyrrhiza Glycyrrhiza Glycyrrhiza inflata Bat. Glycyrrhiza glabra or Glycyrrhiza glabra L. root and rhizome dry. Spring and autumn of the second quarter of excavation, removal of fibrous roots, dried in the sun. 

 

Characters:

1) Licorice root was cylindrical and long 25 ~ 100cm, diameter 0.6 ~ 3.5cm. Different elastic skin. The surface of red-brown or gray brown, with prominent vertical wrinkle,, stomata and value of fine-root scar thinning. Quality of a firm, slightly fibrous section, yellow-white, pink and clear cambium ring, radial ray, and some have cracks. Roots were cylindrical, surface marks bud, myelinated central section. Micro-gas, sweet and special.

2) Glycyrrhiza inflata root and rhizome thick wood, and some branches, rough skin, multi-gray-brown or taupe. Quality hard wood fiber, and powder small. Roots and large number of adventitious buds.

 3) Glycyrrhiza glabra root and rhizome more solid texture, and some branches, the jacket is not rough, brown and more gray, but not significantly smaller stomata.

 

Functions and Indications:

Spleen Qi, clearing away heat and toxic, cough expectorant, analgesic priorities, to reconcile the various drugs. For the spleen and stomach weakness, fatigue weakness, palpitations shortness of breath, cough and excessive phlegm, abdomenache, limbs, twin acute pain, carbuncle swollen, ease of drug toxicity, potent.
